As part of the developments and extensions that I have made to the
Berkeley Video-on-Demand system, I have begun developing several tools
which will make it easier to enter information into the the Berkeley
Video Database.

The first tool was bvde: the Berkeley Video
Database Editor. It allows a user to add and modify
information within the postgres database which manages the Berkeley
Video-on-Demand system. In order to provide reasonable access to the
volume of information in the database, bvde is organized in a
heirarchical fashion whereby a tree of data associated with a
particular class can be viewed. For example, a document in the
database can be viewed with its subordinate bibliography, people and
segmentation information available as deeper within the tree.

Bvde currently allows a user to add new document, people
and keyframe information to the database. Support for more complex
structures, such as scripts and other stream formats, will be added as
Vineet Gossain expands the tool and uses it to enter additional
content into the VOD system.
